Frankfort, Kentucky (September 1, 2023) – HMB Professional Engineers, a Kentucky-based engineering firm, is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with Trilon Group, a family of infrastructure consulting businesses. The partnership gives HMB additional capital and resources to expand its services and markets, while better serving it’s clients.
Founded in 1979, HMB is a leading provider of engineering services to state and local agency clients throughout the southeast. “HMB’s strategic growth goals can be better achieved with a strong, well-resourced partner that shares their core beliefs, culture and vision”, said HMB President Rob Dowler.
“One key thing that really spoke to us, is that Trilon has the same approach to business as HMB,” Dowler said. “Even as we have grown HMB in recent years, we have worked to maintain our small firm feel while adding the expertise and capacity to deliver large firm capabilities to our clients. That is what Trilon wants – HMB to stay HMB. By partnering with Trilon, we will continue to grow in our existing markets and expand into new markets, and our 100+ employees will benefit from more opportunities for career growth.”
HMB was selected by Trilon Group, which is backed by people-driven private equity firm Alpine Investors, to be a part of the company’s vision to build the next Top 10 design firm in North America. Trilon is doing this by bringing together the nation’s best infrastructure consulting firms like HMB. Trilon will support HMB to accelerate the growth and careers of their employees with additional investment in talent, technology, and targeted mergers and acquisitions.
Within Trilon, HMB will play a critical role in expanding the capabilities and reach of Trilon’s Transportation Platform, which focuses primarily on Transportation engineering, with a strong presence across the country with 900 employees to-date.
“We are pleased to have HMB join the Trilon family, which also comprises DRMP, and Alta Planning + Design in the Trilon Transportation Platform,” said Larry Smith, President of Trilon Transportation. “While HMB will continue to operate as an independent brand, we see significant opportunity to service our clients better, driven by access to a greater array of services, locations and resources. Rob Dowler, Mitchell Green (Executive Vice President, HMB) and the rest of the HMB team have built a great company that aligns very well with the Trilon family.”
HMB is Trilon’s third major investment in 2023, following the partnerships with Illinois-based Fehr Graham in May, and Phoenix-based Wilson Engineers in January.
